The test copy of the new Darkling Series One TPB arrived recently. It’s looking fang-tastic (see what I did there?). A previous copy arrived a few weeks back and there were printing problems but everything’s 100% perfect in the new one and it’s that which’ll be out to buy veeeeery very soon! I wanted to bring it out late July/early August but now I’m seriously considering an earlier release by a couple of weeks.

The printers have done a bang-up job and seeing the barcode on the back of the book is a giddy thrill. The tpb will be available in bricks n’ mortar stores (providing they order copies) as well as available in Indyplanet.com’s online store so it’s pretty exciting knowing it’ll be out there.

It’s been a tough road since we started in 2004 with the Robin Node comic posters. I’ve still got a lot of them in packaging taking up space! Too sentimental to get rid of ‘em though. Then we did the two big volumes of Tales From The Plex, reformatting that title into the ongoing series, as well as the first Darkling mini. And now we’re finally getting to the proper superhero universe stuff. It feels strange. Some of the stuff coming up has been planned since I was a child, which I guess makes it a life-long dream. The original plan was to become a superstar creator with DC and work on Superman, Wonder Woman and the Legion Of Superheroes before breaking off and starting my own company. If I’d waited for that though I’d never have gotten anything of my own out.

I still don’t feel like I’m fully ready to bring this stuff out when there’s such a small fanbase in place for it. But then Superman came out without a fanbase, and through hard work and a couple of decades of amazing, awe-striking adventures he came to mean something to people. I keep wondering if someday these characters will mean something special to someone too…

The final two issues from Tales From The Plex, our first ongoing series, are out NOW!

They’ve been available to buy since last month but they’re officially 2010 product, with a Jan 2010 and Feb 2010 inner-cover date, respectively.

You can get your personal, specially made-to-order copies of Tales From The Plex #14 HERE and Tales From The Plex #15 HERE. Stories include the final two parts of the Fut multi-epic “Fut Vs A Broken Heart” by Chris J. Powers, as well as sci-fi noir crime thriller “Murder From Beyond The Stars” by “Mad” Chad Nevett and “Nice” Brice Hall, superhero murder mystery “End Of An Era” by Preston “The Trooper” Cooper and “Sarky” Mark Lauthier, politically (not to mention socially!) incorrect comedy strip “Re: Tarded” by Devon “Man-Slinky!” Winkey, a bit o’ pin-up goodness from Chris J. Powers “That Be” and “Rabbid” David Richardson plus a final tear-jerking goodbye strip from Fut and the Timebots we simply called “Fut’s Goodbye”.

A LOT of people put their heart n’ their art into this series, so give it a go next time you want something interesting to look at. I can honestly un-biasedly say there’s some really excellent, exciting and fun strips throughout this 15-issue series, and it’s well worth a read through.

Tales From The Plex #11-15 haven’t come out yet. Our online seller, IndyPlanet, has been having server issues and are taking a while longer than usual to get things out. It shouldn’t be too long now so hopefully if you’re buying copies, you’ll have those in your hands in a couple weeks at latest.

My demo copies have arrived and everything’s beautiful. These are some of the best issues we’ve ever done and it’s awesome to have ‘em.

I’ll let you know when you can get your own ones. Til then have an awesome week!

I just uploaded ALL final five issues of Tales From The Plex to the IndyPlanet store, so they should be up n’ out for the general public any day now!

That’s TFTP done 100% from my side of things, except for checking my copies when they arrive (again, any day now! Woot!) but judging by the proofs I got sent, everything’s gorgeously awesome!

I’m having some weird abandonment issue with the series at the mo. Now that it’s over, I’m kinda sad. That series, in its various formats, took up like five years of my life. We started it around 2004 on the Plex forum and now, at the end of the 21st century’s first decade, we got ‘er done. If this were a movie, this’d be the epilogue where the hero waves buh-bye to the magical genie-people or whatever. *sniff*

All issues will be oot the same day so there’ll be no dangling threads of plex-ness as we move into 2010. This decade’s been pretty dang rough. There’s been weird spots, horrible spots, amazing spots, and everything in-between. Really looking forward to the next decade!

Each issue will be $2.50 plus shipping. Don’t forget there’s also the 6-issue The Darkling series, which’d make a GREAT present for any young Twilight fans in your family, especially young girls.
